A spokesman of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran said:
SATBA has called for the construction of ten thousand megawatts of renewable power plants with the participation of domestic and foreign private sector.

According to SATBA Public Relations and International Affairs Office, "Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi" said: “In line with the policies of the thirteenth government of Iran and also the new programs of the Ministry of Energy, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran (SATBA) intends to use the capacity of “Article 12 of the Law on Removing Barriers of Competitive Production and Improving the Financial System of the Country” to develop and build 10,000 MW of renewable power plants with the help of the private sector. Therefore all domestic and foreign interested parties and investors are invited to participate in this issue and send their proposals to SATBA until November 21, 2021.”
He also said: “we need to develop and use renewable energy, but many still believe that renewable energy compared to thermal and fossil power plants are expensive, but the reports International Renewable Energy Organization showed that at the end of 2019, the price of electricity generated by renewable power plants is even lower than the cost price for fossil fuels.
SATBA spokesman added: “In order to generate electricity, in addition to the three options of fuel cost, energy conversion cost and environmental cost, the cost of water consumption should also be added to fossil power plants. In addition we have some more benefits in renewable energy. For example a solar power plant will be installed in less than six months, while if all the equipment and financial resources are available to build a fossil power plant, it will take at least 1.5 years to build it.”
He also pointed to the appropriate potential of solar energy in the country and said that given the country's radiation potential for a power plant, the possibility of generating electricity with an access coefficient of more than 20% will be almost twice that of a country like Germany with an access coefficient of 10 to 11%. In Germany, meanwhile, more than 50,000 megawatts of solar power have been installed.
He also said: "Preliminary studies show that there is between 30,000 and 40,000 megawatts of wind power capacity in the country.
He concluded: "If we build solar and wind power plants instead of 1,000 MW of fossil power plants, we will actually save 1,500 million cubic meters of natural gas and 2.8 million cubic meters of water annually;" It also prevents the emission of 3.7 million tons of carbon dioxide per year.
