“The development of 847 megawatt renewable energy in Iran has resulted in economization of more than 1600 million cubic meters of natural gas.” said Director General of Strategic Planning and Regulations Office of SATBA.
According to the reports by Public Relations and International Affairs Office of SATBA, Salar Atashpar mentioned the latest status of renewable energy development in Iran adding that since last December, the emission of 55000 tons of greenhouse gas and 300 tons of local pollutants was prevented until the end of this month by generating more than 82 million KW/h renewable energy in Iran.
He also reported the economization of 18 million liters of water in December and said: “Additionally, the generated electricity from clean sources resulted in economization of 23 million cubic meters of natural gas in consumption of fossil fuels in this month.”
According to the Director General of Strategic Planning and Regulations Office of SATBA, the development of more than 874 megawatt of various renewable power plants and injection of 5650 million KW/h energy to the national electricity grid has led to the reduction of fossil fuels consumption up to 1605 megawatt which helps to mitigate environmental pollution.
“Solar and wind power plants with the capacity of 413.6 megawatt and 303.18 megawatt respectively, have the highest capacity currently and development of renewable generators for subscribers are welcomed at the moment. 4651 solar and wind generators with total capacity of 54930 kilowatt by electricity subscribers have been operated till December.” he added.
In the end, he reported that 3785 tons of greenhouse gas and 23700 tons of other local pollutants were prevented by generating renewable electricity by the end of December and added that operating these power plants in Iran has led to the prevention of 1243 million liters of water consumption which is used to produce electricity in thermal power plants.
