Identifying 121500 megawatt renewable and clean power plant construction potential

“SATBA has succeeded in identifying 121500 megawatt potential for the construction of renewable and clean power plants in Iran by conducting theoretical potential studies since 2018.” said Director General of Potential Assessment and Resources Evaluation Office of SATBA.
Mitra Gholami, Director General of Potential Assessment and Resources Evaluation Office of SATBA said that: “Potential Assessment and Resources Assessment Office has started preparing a collection of booklets entitled identifying potential sites and evaluating the country's renewable energy sources since 2018. The identification of potential areas in the field of renewable energy, including solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydropower, has been done separately for 31 provinces and islands. The results of the studies are available on SATBA’s website.”
"Currently, the total theoretical potential identified in the field of solar energy is estimated to be over 70,000 megawatt; wind energy is more than 47,000 megawatt, biomass energy is about 1000 MW, the geothermal energy is over 1000 megawatt, and the small hydropower is 2500 megawatt.” She said while referring to the latest results from the identification of potential areas in the field of various sources of renewable energy.
Gholami announced the identification of 121,500 megawatts potential for the construction of renewable and clean power plants in the country and added: “In the theoretical potential assessment phase, potential areas are identified by using related software and adapting the specific renewable energy atlas to the map of the whole country, and in the next phase, integrated evaluation, prioritization, and determination of clean energy share for each province will be carried out.”
