According to SATBA Public Relations and International Affairs Office, Dr. Satkin, Deputy Minister of Energy and Head of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) delivered his speech at Baku International Energy Charter meeting on "Transition to renewables in power generation, transport, heating and cooling: modern challenges and trends". The meeting was held virtually in Baku on 28th October 2020. At the outset, Dr. Satkin presented the plan of Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and mentioned some points including the support of technology developers and renewable energy projects in the private sector, concluding contracts for guaranteed power purchase agreements, approval of SBC (System Benefit Charges) mechanism, improving the Feed-in-Tariff systems from 5 to 20 years, providing sustainable and accessible energy for remote areas deprived of grid electricity, the announcement of the decision to export non-governmental renewable and clean electricity abroad with the aim of supporting and encouraging local and foreign investors to generate solar and wind power and export it to Iran's neighboring countries. He also pointed to international cooperation on energy generation by developing a holistic approach to support the promotion and development of energy use in developing countries, as well as enhancing the research and development process, with the aim of reducing costs and empowering renewable energy to increase competitiveness in energy markets.
It is worth mentioning that the above-mentioned forum is held in the member countries of the Energy Charter and its aim is to better reflect the new realities of the energy sector, especially energy growth in developing countries and cooperation of participating countries to develop and build new capacities. Combating common challenges in the energy sector is also one of the development goals of this forum.
