In the third week of #everyweek_A_B_Iran campaign in the current year, two small hydro power plants were launched in Mahalat city (Markazi Province) by Minister of Energy and Deputy Minister of Energy. The total capacity of power plants were 7.8 megawatt.
Public Relations and International Affairs Office of SATBA reported that at the beginning of the inauguration ceremony of two small hydro power plants that was launched in Markazi province, Dr. Satkin Referred to the statistics of renewable power plants built in the province and he said: "five units of megawatt-scale renewable power plants with a total capacity of 16.1 MW and 34 solar kilowatts-scale generators with a total capacity of 666 kilowatts are constructed for residential and industrial usages through power purchase agreements.”
Head of SATBA added: "Construction of two small hydropower plants with capacities of 3 and 4.8 MW located in Jardijan and Larijan villages in Mahallat city (Markazi province) has been done on Qom 3 and 4 pressure breaker stations of water transmission lines.” He added: "The connecting operation of these power plants to the grid was done in February and March 2020. The advantages of these projects include peak shaving and preventing the release of 32 thousand tons of environmental pollutants."
Following the opening ceremony which was held as a video conference, Dr. Ardakanian pointed to the most important benefits of constructing renewable power plants such as helping to manage the grid load during peak power consumption, preventing the emission of greenhouse gases and creating direct and indirect jobs. By His Excellency’s order, two power plants of Mahallat city were inaugurated.
It should be noted that the power plants will generate about 60 thousand megawatt-hours of clean energy per year and will help to save 25 million cubic meter of fuel equivalent to natural gas annually. The construction of these power plants has also created 100 direct and indirect jobs and can supply electricity to 30 thousand household subscribers.
