SATBA’s Association with Earth Day through Renewable Energy Development and Measures to Increase Energy Efficiency

Dr. Satkin considered the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency as two key measures to accompany this global event and achieve sustainable development on the occasion of Earth Day event on April 22nd each year.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Head of SATBA on the occasion of Earth Day, with the aims of raising awareness and appreciating the earth’s environment, considered the development of renewable power plants and increasing energy efficiency among the basic measures to prevent waste use of fossil fuels and control the environmental challenges.
Dr.Satkin added: "Since meeting human energy needs is in line with the protection of the environment for the present and future generations, SATBA as one of the Deputy Ministries of Energy, with the aim of allocating a significant portion of energy supply of Iran, has taken steps towards achieving sustainable development goals.”
Referring to the country's high potential in the field of renewable energy sources, he added: "The Ministry of Energy plans to increase electricity generation from these sources to 5000 megawatts during short-term programs. The total capacity of renewable energy and electricity efficiency has reached 885 MW by efforts of SATBA and the private sector participation which has resulted in avoiding 1277 million cubic meters of natural gas consumption. In addition, these savings has led to a reduction in emissions of 3.72 million tons of greenhouse gases.”
In line with the Earth Day Event, SATBA supports actions to increase productivity, as well as the optimal use of clean and renewable energy sources, reduce adverse environmental impacts, create energy security and improve quality of life and has put these measures into its executive goals and policies agenda.
