According to public relations and international affairs of SATBA, Dr. Sadeghzadeh, deputy minister of energy and head of SATBA as one of the keynote speakers at the 4th Iran Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition and the first National Renewable Energy Award in Iran, considered renewable energy as an economic NGO sector. He added that what we are proud about the renewable industry development in Iran, is the significant increase in the population of people in this field reaching from 2000 to 40 thousand. We hope this number will increase to 100 thousand people by the end of the sixth program.
He pointed to 800 MW renewable power plants that are installed and stated that 3500 power plants in kilowatt scale have been operated in Iran and we hope this reaches to 100 thousand units. Dr. Sadeghzadeh pointed out that the geopolitics of energy is changing. He added that a few years ago, energy suppliers in the Middle East region were considering energy supply routes in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and other issues related to oil and gas,but with the rapid growth of 40 percent of renewable energy in the world, geopolitics of energy is changing.
He added: "The geographical location of our country is in a way that we can use wind and solar energy to supply and exchange energy with Europe from the West and with India from the East and this divine blessing is a positive point in the country's geopolitics." He stated that replacing renewable energies with fossil fuels is a good opportunity to benefit from higher value-added goods and this can lead to wealth and greater prosperity and supplier of other countries.
Dr. Sadeghzadeh, pointing to the announcement of a new decree by the Ministry of Energy to increase tariffs on the purchase of renewable electricity, added that we hope to remove a significant part of the obstacles. "Fortunately, since the beginning of this year, with the assistance of the Planning and Budget Organization, the Ministry of Energy, the Central Bank and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, renewable energy development in the form of electricity tolls has been given to SATBA an income and we have no worries about paying the invoices in due time. We hope this process will continue with more stability.
