On the occasion of the Government Week in Iran, Minister of Energy Dr Reza Ardakanian inaugurated a 7-megawatt solar power plant in Abhar in Zanjan province.
According to Public Relations Office of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), the first 7-MW solar power plant in Abhar city was launched on 27th of August 2019 with the presence of Minister of Energy, head of SATBA, General Governor of Zanjan and group of managers and officials from regional electricity and distribution companies. Located on a land area as large as 140 thousand square meter, this project was fully funded by the private sector.
By generating more than 11 GWh electricity annually, this solar power plant (Razi Abhar) is considered as the largest-scale power plant in the northwest of Iran.
Moreover contributing to meet the electricity demand and connecting to the grid, this power plant is able to reduce consumption of fossil fuels as much as 4 million cubic meter. It also prevents the emission of 9598 tons of greenhouse gases and saves 3 million liters of water annually.
