7-MW solar power plant in Sarbisheh city was launched by Minister of Energy Dr. Ardakanian. According to Public Relations & International Affairs Office of SATBA, the 7-MW solar power plant in Sarbishesh in South Khorasan Province was launched with the presence of Dr. Ardakanian, Minister of Energy, General Governor of South Khorasan Province, Representative of Sarbisheh and Nahbandan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Managing Director of South Khorasan Electricity Distribution Company, and a group of managers and Officials.
According to project's investor’s report, the 7-MW solar power plant which was constructed by a foreign investor with an investment volume of 1.5 million euros is located on a land with area of 14 hectares within six months time. It is worth mentioning that by developing this power plant in one of the deprived areas with water scarcity, 100 and 25 direct and indirect jobs were created at the time of construction and operation respectively.
The renewable power plant generates about 1 GWh of energy per year and can reduce the emission of about 9598 tons of greenhouse gas. In addition, this amount of energy prevents the consumption of 3.95 million cubic meters of fossil fuel per year and saves about 3060 cubic meters of water annually.
The total capacity of renewable power plants in South Khorasan has reached more than 20 MW.
Currently, the total capacity of renewable power plants has reached 760 MW in Iran.
