The first 5 kW solar rooftop solar power plant was constructed and operated on the roof of a public school in the deprived area of Zahak in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Public Relations of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) reports: To develop and expand residential, agricultural and industrial solar power plants in deprived and low water areas the first 5 kW solar power plant on the roof of a public school was installed. The system was installed and commissioned on the roof of a public school in Zahak in Sistan and Baluchistan province with the support of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) and Sistan and Baluchestan Power Distribution Company.
The ownership of the power plant belongs to the charity of the Zabul Education Department and the proceeds will be provided to the school to achieve further educational goals. Currently, 3286 rooftop solar power plants are constructed and operated in 29 provinces with a total capacity of 34 MW. These systems, in addition to contributing to the country's electricity supply, create jobs and lead to eliminate deprivation of local residents.
