One of the largest solar power plants in Fars province was launched in Eqlid city with a capacity of 10 MW.
Public Relations of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) reported: The 10 MW solar power plant in Eqlid city, Fars province which was constructed by Taban Company and built on a 20-hectare land was launched on July 8th 2019. The launch event was held with the presence of Minister of Energy, Deputy Minister of Energy and Head of the SATBA, the representative of Eqlid city in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Governor of Eqlid city, and a group of managers of the water and electricity industry of Fars Province.
Given that Fars province is one of the provinces which has the highest potential of solar energy, four solar power plants in megawatt scale have been operated in this province with the capacity of 34.6 megawatts, and another 10 megawatt power plant will be operational till the end of July 2019.
According to the report the power plant will prevent the release of 13,712 tons of environmental pollutants annually and reduce the consumption of 4,372 cubic meters of water annually. It will also save 5.64 million cubic meters of fossil fuels annually by connecting more than 16 GWh of electricity into the national electricity grid.
According to a report from the investor this power plant has created jobs for 64 people at the time of construction and operation.
