The solar power plant with the capacity of 7 MW in Sarbisheh city in South of Khorasan province was connected to the national electricity grid using the latest technology.
According to the Intelligence and Supervision Office of SATBA, the third solar power plant in South Khorasan province with the capacity of 7 MW was constructed by the private sector. The power plant construction is in line with developing renewable power plants in low-water and deprived areas of the country. It is worth mentioning that the power plant has constructed using the native experts in an area of 14 hectares and it lasted six months.
The power plant which generates more than 12 GWh of electricity annually, is also able to reduce fossil fuel consumption around 4 million cubic meters at peak hours of the national grid. It also saves 3060 million liters of water and prevents 9598 tons of greenhouse gas every year.
According to the project's investor announcement 800 people were employed directly and indirectly at the time of construction and more than 20 people will be employed at the time of operation.
The report adds that the capacity of the solar power plants in the South Khorasan province has so far reached 18 MW and there have been 199 solar rooftops with a capacity of 2120 kW have been operated by the end of June 2019.
It is worth noting that South Khorasan province ranks the seventh among the other provinces of the country in terms of the installment and development of solar rooftops.
