According to the Director General of Compilation and Facilitation of Regulations Office of SATBA, more than 3200 solar rooftops have been operational so far. Mr. Loni mentioned that more than 90% of the renewable power plants have been built in deprived areas. He also added that the construction of solar rooftops can not only generate income for rural households and decrease migration to cities, but also increase living standards for residents of less developed areas near the borders.
He referred to the fact that currently solar rooftops have the highest tariffs. He mentioned that in line with the Ministry of Energy's targets and plans for the development of the electricity industry, investing in the development of these power plants can lead to reduction of the losses in the electricity distribution grid especially in remote rural areas.
He added that subscribers can register in the Mehrsan system or visit the electricity distribution companies in person to get the permit and conclude the guaranteed purchase agreements.
At present, the most number of solar rooftops have been operated in Kerman, Khorasan Razavi and Isfahan provinces ranked from most to least.
