5 renewable power plants with the capacity of more than 28 MW in 5 provinces are ready to connect to the national electricity grid
According to the Director General of the Intelligence and Supervision Office of SATBA, five power plants in different provinces of Iran that have been constructed by private sector investment through feed-in-tariff process will be connected to the national electricity grid as soon as possible.
Mr Ziyari added that some factors have led to the attractiveness of private sector participation in the development of the renewable industry in Iran despite economic sanctions. These factors include: supporting the localization of renewable energy technology, applying incentive rates of the localized equipment technology to feed-in-tariffs, reducing the costs of equipment for renewable power plants, and purchasing renewable power for 20-year periods.
Mr. Ziyari mentioned that Ministry of Energy announced the possibility of renewable energy exports. The private sector investors can export the generated renewable electricity to the neighboring countries while having power purchase agreements with SATBA.
