According to the public relations and international affairs of SATBA, based on a comparative study, which was carried out by SATBA and the University of Tehran in the past years, it was specified that the employment rate of wind power plants in Iran was higher than the global average. This is due to the emergence of renewable energy industry or the low labor efficiency index in Iran compared to industrial countries.
According to the report, the results of this research show that employment during the value chain of a-50 MW wind power plant resulted in the creation of 668 direct jobs and 1670 indirect jobs at the installation stage and also 48 direct jobs and 120 indirect jobs were created at the time of operation, repairs and maintenance respectively.
According to the report, job creation has been one of the main benefits of renewable energy worldwide in recent years, and based on the studies by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), approximately 10.3 million people were employed in renewable energy sector in 2017. Meanwhile, global wind energy employment has risen to 1.15 million people in 2017, with installed wind power capacity of more than 539 GW. Studies show that more than 3.8 million jobs will be created by 2050 due to the development of wind power plants. The report says that there are 19 wind power plants with the capacity of 282.6 MW installed in Iran and about 100 MW are being installed.
