It should be noted that other institutions like the Atomic Energy Organization, Ministry of Agricultural Crusade [jihad] and Fuel Consumption Optimization Organization have also made contributions in this respect. However, in order for optimum utilization and effective operation of renewable energies, the Islamic Consultative Assembly obligated the government, pursuant to Para (SH) of Note 12 of the 1383 Budget Law, to centralize all the activities relating to renewable energies in an institution within three months from the approval of the aforementioned law. Accordingly the High Administration Council notified its approval No 1901/178607 dated December 18,2004 regarding the centralization of all legal assignments and activities related to renewable energies in the Ministry of Energy, thus assigning the entire pertinent activities and resources to SUNA.

In the middle of the year 1385 [2006] concurrent with structural changes introduced in the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry’s Renewable Energy Office was practically amalgamated with SUNA and all related colleagues and projects were also transferred to this organization.

Moreover, since the beginning of the year 1386 [mid March 2007], the only project related to renewable energies which had been assigned to an institution other than SUNA (Binalood Wind Power Station Project-Tavanir Company), was resigned to this organization. By doing this, the responsibilities assumed by other authorities (including the Ministry of Agricultural crusade [Jihad], Ministry of Petroleum, Tavanir Company and Ministry of Energy’s Office) were vested upon SUNA who became the sole Iranian organization responsible for development to renewable energies.

The capital or SUNA amounts to 100 million rials, divided into 1000shares of Rls.10000 each belonging to Tavanir company. SUNA’s Articles of Association is comprised of 29 articles and 6 notes with all its entrusted duties having been defined under the "subject of the company" therein. The latest changes in the Article of Association including changes of certain phrases and words in Para 3 of Article 13, Paras 7 and 8 of Article 13, Para 4 of Article 20 as well as replacement of Note 2 of Article 26 have all been approved by pertinent authorities as per approval No H30006T/12714 dated February 28, 2004.
